AUTHENTIC REPRESENTATION IN THE ARTS

APPOINTMENT TO BOARD OF
SCREEN AUSTRALIA

In 2023, Pallavi made history as the youngest ever appointee—and the first of Indian origin—to the Board of Screen Australia. Her appointment wasn’t just symbolic; it marked a seismic shift in the stories we platform and the storytellers we champion. With her background spanning law, the performing arts, and grassroots advocacy, Pallavi brings an unapologetically intersectional perspective to Australia’s national screen body. Her mission? Ensuring the faces on screen—and the people behind them—reflect the full spectrum of the people watching.

THE IMPERFECTS PODCAST - WHERE WE BELONG

On The Imperfects, Pallavi opened up with rare honesty about identity, rejection, cultural navigation, and the art of not always having it together. She reflected on what it means to belong when you're constantly code-switching between continents, communities, and expectations. From being the “model migrant kid” to choosing creative chaos over legal certainty, Pallavi’s conversation is a masterclass in vulnerability, humour, and permission to take up space—on screen, and in life.

PALLAVI SHARDA ON BEING A BOLLYWOOD STAR AND FINDING SUCCESS AT HOME

In conversation with Courtney Act on ABC’s One Plus One, Pallavi peeled back the layers of her double life—Bollywood ingénue by day, law student by night; diaspora darling on paper, but outsider in the room. With trademark wit and clarity, she spoke about breaking into an industry that couldn’t define which box she fit into ‘Indian or Australian’ and what it means to finally feel grounded as an artist back on home soil. The episode is equal parts career story, cultural unpacking, and soul truth.

KEYNOTES & THINK TANK

AUSTRALIA-INDIA LEADERSHIP DIALOGUE: ON CULTURE & GEOPOLITICS

Pallavi Sharda spoke at the Australia India Leadership Dialogue (AILD) in Melbourne, a high-level forum comprising thought leaders and key stakeholders in the bi lateral relationship, focused on investigating and strengthening the India-Australia ties.

In her keynote, Pallavi spoke passionately about the power of culture and technology as connective tissue between the two nations. Drawing on her own experience as a transnational artist, she highlighted the role of cultural diplomacy as soft power, a key area where investment and attention is required in order to grease the wheels of Australia and India’s broader policy and strategic cooperation aims, as set out in both the ECTA (trade agreement) & the DFAT report ‘An India Economic Strategy to 2035”
